This Vaan R5, number 3 of the series is already in production. The hulls and superstructure are complete and the mechanical, electrical and other installations have begun. But there's still a chance to choose certain options and personalize this boat to your specifications.
A true sailor's catamaran with twin aft helms and Jefa direct steering for responsive and reliable control with perfect visibility on all points of sail. Close your eyes and the sensation is like sailing a monohull. With them open, you fully experience the advantages of the Vaan R5's speed, stability and abundant living space for extended time aboard.
The hulls and superstructure are fabricated in aluminium --- a far superior material for safe, reliable cruising in any latitude. And the particular aluminium used for a Vaan is made primarily from recycled materials, such as street signs, window frames, etc. and is itself 100% recyclable. This circular concept extends to the cork decking (no endangered teak on a Vaan) and other materials that don't harm the planet. Your only footprint will be on the beach and you can drive a Vaan right up onto it if you select the shallow fin keel option -- already installed on R5-03.
When not sailing, a Vaan is propelled by safe and reliable electric drives that are virtually maintenance free. No pollution in the water, in the air or in the ambiance aboard thanks to their near silent operation. Power is freely supplied by the sun, collected by the large solar array on the coachroof and stored in the lithium battery bank. There is an optional generator for extended range on cloudy days.
A Vaan's stunning profile with signature "roll bar" (main sheet arch) and "spoiler" (aft bimini) makes it incomparable to any other catamaran.
